Gala Dinner · La Llotja de Mar, Barcelona · 2025

Annual gala dinner for VidaCaixa's Catalan broker network at La Llotja de Mar, Barcelona. Table mapping and full audiovisual production at one of the city's most distinctive heritage venues.

The challenge

A protected heritage building does not admit flat events.

The Salon de Contrataciones at La Llotja is one of the finest examples of Mediterranean civil Gothic conserved in Europe. That asset on the brand level is a constraint on the operational level. Structural loads, finishes, architectural lighting, and the venue's use conditions limit what can be installed and how.

The project's tension is exactly that: convening a demanding, professional channel accustomed to corporate dinners, without falling into the conventional gala dinner the venue itself invites by default. Long tablecloths, floral centrepieces, speech, dessert. The standard format works in this space, but it does not differentiate.

VidaCaixa asked for something else. An evening that would recognise the broker as a strategic partner, not a passive guest. A narrative layer connected to the company's current-year conversation. A production that respected the building without treating it as a silent backdrop. Three demands that are not resolved from a catalogue.

Bacus's response

Gastronomy and projection on the same surface.

The concept places the content on the table. Each round table becomes a screen. A mapping synchronised with the kitchen courses is projected onto the tablecloth, so each plate arrives accompanied by a landscape, a texture, or a corporate message projected onto the surface where it is served.

It is the same principle Bacus applied at the Madrid edition of the broker programme, translated to the Catalan Gothic. The production team adapts the table plan to the rhythm of the room, calibrates the ceiling projectors to avoid harming the stonework, and builds the visual narrative around VidaCaixa's commercial year: territory, clients, the future of long-term savings.

Arrival is designed in a different register. A piano bar installed in the welcome area receives guests with signature cocktails and a live jazz and 1920s swing band — an atmosphere that connects with the building's classic imagery. During dinner, the same band accompanies with soft rhythms. The move to after-dinner is opened by a DJ with a Pixel LED booth and dancers with programmable technical costumes that can be dressed in brand colours and messages.

Catering is provided by La Llotja's own kitchen, with a menu composed for the occasion. A small merchandise piece — a VidaCaixa lapel pin — is given on arrival as a gesture of belonging.

The experience

A conversation between the fourteenth century and the day after.

The evening begins outside the main room. The piano bar welcome and live band give one hundred and forty people time to recognise one another, talk, and settle into the temperature of the event without the immediate formality of the table.

The move to the Salon de Contrataciones operates as a change of scene. The medieval arches do the scenic work that no production could replicate, and the table mapping breaks the expectation: the old building, the contemporary table, the same air breathed.

Dinner advances at the cadence set by the projection. There is a point, around dessert, where the general conversation is interrupted by the visual content. After-dinner frees the group from the seated format: a classic photobooth and Glambot for a shareable photograph, a choreographer-entertainer on the floor to open dancing without forcing it. The broker ends the night having received content, not just dinner.

The result

The channel leaves having understood something, not just having dined.

VidaCaixa concludes the Catalan piece of its annual broker programme in Barcelona with a format that is proprietary, repeatable, and differentiable from the standard gala dinner. The venue delivers prestige, the mapping delivers narrative, the operation delivers discipline.

The case enters Bacus's catalogue as a reference for corporate events at a protected heritage venue with audiovisual production on a surface in use. The client returns for subsequent editions.

Frequently asked questions · VidaCaixa Brokers Gala Dinner Barcelona

What readers ask after this case.

  • Yes. La Casa Llotja de Mar in Barcelona, headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce, admits corporate events with audiovisual production provided the producer respects the building's heritage protection regime. The Salon de Contrataciones — an example of Mediterranean civil Gothic — conditions load points, lighting of the stonework, and assembly and dismantling schedules. Bacus works in this venue with ceiling projection onto tables and discrete ambient reinforcement, avoiding any intervention on the historic surfaces. The key is planning the table layout and technical calibration with the venue team from the proposal stage, not during execution.

  • Table mapping is an audiovisual projection technique onto the table surface, synchronised with the course sequence. It turns the table into a narrative screen: each guest receives visual content while eating — landscapes, corporate messages, or brand palette. It works particularly well for channel dinners, closed conventions, and objective celebrations where the brand wants to recognise the guest with its own narrative layer, without turning the evening into a frontal show. It requires precise coordination between service and technical direction, and attendee counts contained between one hundred and three hundred people for the synchrony to remain credible.

  • Channel dinners for major insurance companies are organised by city and by broker segment, not in a congress format. Typical attendance runs between one hundred and two hundred people per evening when the aim is to maintain a conversational atmosphere. The Barcelona edition of VidaCaixa's broker programme produced by Bacus brought together one hundred and forty brokers at La Casa Llotja de Mar. That range allows distinctive mid-capacity venues, a seated dinner format, table mapping, and after-dinner entertainment without overcrowding the space or diluting the commercial contact between brand and channel.

  • A standard gala dinner resolves protocol: catering, floral decoration, speech, dessert. A corporate dinner with a creative concept adds a narrative layer coherent with the client's current brand moment. In the case of VidaCaixa Barcelona, that layer is three connected pieces: a piano bar arrival with a live 1920s band that engages with the Gothic building; table mapping synchronised with the kitchen that carries the year's commercial message; and an after-dinner with a technology DJ and entertainment that releases the group without losing tone. The guest receives content, not just a place setting.
