Novarama Summer

Team Building · Clos La Plana · 2022

Corporate summer event for Novarama, an independent Barcelona-based video game studio known for the Invizimals franchise. Team evening at Clos La Plana.

The challenge

Producing for the people who produce the worlds people live in.

The editorial challenge was not logistical. An event agency with thirty-three years of track record resolves catering, bar, music, and the operational side of a corporate summer event without friction. The challenge was the guest. The Novarama team spends its days building immersive scenarios, ambient design, art direction, synchronised sound, and visual narrative. Any event produced with flat criteria, obvious scenography, or generic ambience would be read by that actual audience as sloppy work within their own craft.

Added to that exigency was the client's internal culture. Novarama is not a financial corporation or a pharmaceutical company with a gala code. It is a creative studio with an informal register, relaxed conversation, and a strong sense of team belonging. The evening had to respect that code — no rigid protocol, no frontal stage with a solemn speech, no stock corporate photocall — without losing density as a production. The fine line between a fun summer party and a banal one lay in how the atmosphere was designed, not in how many elements were packed inside.

Bacus's response

An evening built as continuous ambience, not as an agenda.

Bacus structured the evening as a piece of continuous ambience with no hard programme blocks. Relaxed arrival, a cocktail space designed as a liveable scene, natural transition to the main informal dinner zone, and free drift towards an extended after-dinner with music and an active bar through to close. The scheme was not announced to the guest as an agenda; it was built through the layout of the space, the quality of the light, the sound curation, and the pace of service.

Artistic direction started from the client's universe without falling into literalism. No gameplay projections, no LED screens with frames from the catalogue, no corporate cosplay. The event's visual piece was worked as atmosphere: warm summer palettes crossed with higher-saturation lighting accents in specific zones, furniture selected to encourage small-group conversation, live greenery as a structural element, and a sound curation that ran through the evening from an ambient cocktail set to a dance session in the after-dinner.

Gastronomic production was designed to sustain the format without imposing protocol. Catering at stations with dynamic service, options for diverse dietary profiles — the Novarama team is international — and an active cocktail bar running in parallel with dinner. The studio team could stand up, converse, return, and repeat, without the friction of classical seated service. Bacus coordinated artistic direction, technical production, catering, bar, sound curation, lighting, and scene direction of the evening as a single piece.

The experience

The team arrives at the evening and recognises the care.

The arrival was designed as a relaxed opening. No protocol, no corporate photocall, no visible accreditation. The Novarama team accessed the space and found a scene already liveable: warm light, greenery, music at conversation volume, an active bar, first round of appetisers circulating. The evening started without anyone having formally announced it.

The transition to informal dinner happened through service density, not announcement. The gastronomic stations activated and the team drifted towards them naturally. Conversations changed configuration several times throughout the evening: project teams sharing a table, mixing between departments, couples and individuals reconnecting after the production summer. Bacus maintained discreet scene direction throughout the night to resolve micro-incidents without them being perceptible from the guest side.

The after-dinner extended through to close. The sound curation shifted progressively towards a dance session, the general light stepped down half a level, and the central zone converted into an active dance floor without any apparent reconfiguration of the space. The Novarama team closed the evening with the feeling of having participated in a piece produced with criteria, not a company party resolved on a budget.

The result

An ongoing relationship with the studio.

The summer party functioned as an internal studio piece and as a gesture of team care at a specific point in the year. The relationship with Novarama remained active with subsequent editorial commissions — the studio has worked with Bacus in Back to the Future format in later editions — confirming the editorial fit between the client's creative culture and the way the agency produces corporate evenings for the tech sector.

For a client whose craft is building worlds that the player perceives as carefully detailed, the repeat commission is the real indicator. It is not a marketing metric: it is an operational vote from the studio on the agency.

Frequently asked questions · Novarama Summer

What readers ask after this case.

  • Bacus produces software company summer parties in Barcelona and corporate events for creative studios, digital agencies, and technology companies from its Barcelona base, with thirty-three years of track record in the sector. The standard format combines continuous ambience with no rigid agenda, station catering, an active bar, sound curation worked in segments, and zoned lighting. The standard brief includes the team profile, target date, budget, and the character of the evening — formal, informal, or hybrid — with venue and production closed in the following weeks.

  • For a video game or creative development company, the editorial risk is producing a literal event — gameplay projections, obvious gamer ambience, stock photocalls with elements from the catalogue — that the team reads as sloppy work within their own craft. Bacus approaches the format with atmospheric artistic direction, fine lighting and sound work, and curation of furniture and greenery, rather than obvious thematic elements. The goal is for the team to perceive the evening as a piece produced with criteria, equivalent to the level of detail with which they work their own product.

  • Full production of a summer party for a technology company in Barcelona includes venue search and contracting, artistic direction, scenography and space dressing, station or dynamic service catering, cocktail bar, zoned lighting, sound and musical curation by segment, furniture, greenery, and scene direction on the day of the event. Bacus operates as a Barcelona creative studio events agency in a turnkey format, with a single point of contact for the client and closed coordination of technical suppliers throughout the production phase.

  • The relationship between Novarama and Bacus is sustained through successive editorial commissions — summer party and Back to the Future format in subsequent editions — confirming the fit between the studio's creative culture and the way the agency produces corporate evenings for the tech sector. For a studio whose craft is building carefully detailed worlds, the repeat commission is the operational indicator that the editorial partner understands the client's level of visual and narrative demands.
